Solar path lights are a type of garden or outdoor solar light that are used to line paths and provide some path lighting. Frequently these are post type light fixtures under 3 feet high, including the ground stake. In such post-type lights, the solar lighting element, and the solar panel usually are in a single unit mounted on top of the stake - as is seen in the product pictures below.
Path lighting is one of the most popular uses of solar lights. This largely is due to the ease of installation - it is unnecessary to dig trenches to string wires between the individual fixtures. Instead, the power source is the solar panel mounted on the light, and therefore all that installation requires is switching the light on, selecting a spot and pushing the stake into the ground.
Buying Tip: How Many Lights Do I need? Before making a purchase we recommend measuring the length of the path to be lit, deciding on spacing, and deciding whether you will light both sides of the path or just one side. Once you have determined those three selection factors, you can determine how many path lights are needed. For example the equation to determine number required is: length of path, divided by the spacing between fixtures, times the number of sides of the path to be lit (one or two). Put mathematically, this equation is, (length of path / spacing) x sides.
